The origins of the Finco family name in Italy are traced back to the province of Bergamo, with records dating from the 13th century. The surname is of Austrian derivation, from “Fink” meaning Finch. The first trace of the Finco surname in Veneto dates to 1470 in Padua with Giacobuzzo Finco. Tanneries (locally “Garberie”, from the German Gerberei) are documented on the Asiago Plateau from the 15th century, and the presence of the Finco family from the following century, while tanning under the Republic of Venice goes back even earlier. From the mid-1500s, in the noble “Sissa” branch, there were craftsmen, leather traders and tanners. Today, the tradition continues…
Tradition, Quality and Reliability are the three words which best describe us. Celebrating over 150 years of History, Conceria Bernardo Finco is the oldest tannery in Italy to be still family run, having recently arrived at its sixth generation. The foundation of Conceria Bernardo Finco is officially dated 1865 in Gallio (Vicenza province), in the suggestive mountains of Asiago plateau, even though reports highlight that tanneries around the area were already active from the 18th Century. The group today is active in both production and sales of bovine leather; destinations include upholstery, hospitality/ho.re.ca, and also shoe leather, leather accessories and automotive as after-market. Our production features exclusively European origin hides and a strong commitment to top market quality at competitive prices. This is evident in our pure aniline and full grain articles, especially waxed and oiled hides with the characteristic “pull-up” effect. Our markets are mainly North America, Far East, Europe and Italy, with operations across all continents.
